Sometimes you have an experience that shifts your perception and your ability to see the makings of the world. In those moments you are yourself and not yourself. And in the end it is another who pulls the world back into focus.

Spontaneous Generation

Mixed media 2022

Installation - Mapped projection on classical bust, Mirror Room, Mt Victoria Manor (Hotel Etico)

Spontaneous generation is an archaic theory based on the hypothetical process by which living organisms would develop from nonliving matter - a process that until the 17th century was used to explain the origins of life. The process of disproving this theory took over two hundred years.

Rachel Peachey & Paul Mosig are multi-media artists currently living and working on the land of the Dharug and Gundungurra people in the Blue Mountains. They are engaged in ongoing deliberate explorations of various landscapes, using movement, photography, video, sound, sculpture and textiles to document their response. Their approach is based around the process of field studies - returning to specific landscapes over time, and the process of play - interaction with each other and the environment, with no particular outcome in mind.
